Monterey Bay Family Weekend Getaway

We’ve spent many a weekend in Monterey and we love to stay at the Monterey Bay Inn. The hotel is on the quiet end of Cannery Row so its away from the crowds a little bit and the ocean front rooms provide a birds eye view of plenty of ocean activity. We could spend all day watching the sea otters and the kayakers from the balcony of the room. The location is perfectly located to enjoy all that the Cannery Row area has to offer on foot or on a bike. The hotel serves a complimentary continental breakfast in the morning and fresh baked cookies in the afternoon. It’s the perfect place to take the family for a weekend getaway to Monterey.

For dinner we went to the Sardine Factory. Like the hotel, we’ve been going there for years. Its become a lot more family friendly these days. Its still a bit pricey but worth the trip. So many other great place to eat in the area. We like The Captains Gig for a basic chowder lunch. The kids always enjoy the time on Fisherman’s Wharf as well.

So many things to do around Cannery Row but the most popular, of course, is the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We been several times but always find it to be an enjoyable experience for the whole family.

This was a great weekend in Monterey and a great location to set up home base and leave the car behind for a while.
